Below, Danish Bakery’s resident chef, Karsten Bøttker, shares his secret to the ultimate cinnamon roll sandwich which pairs perfectly with coffee.
Cinnamon Roll Sandwich Recipe
1. Cut the cinnamon bun in half lengthwise (like a burger bun) and pop both sides into the toaster until the edges are nice and crispy.
2. Add a dollop of a sweetened topping of your choice to one side of the cinnamon roll. Karsten suggests chocolate ganache (made of dark chocolate, butter and cream), sweetened cream cheese or a whipped cream with notes of vanilla.
3. Top the ganache with fresh or dried fruit like raspberries or blueberries, crushed nuts or almonds.
4. Place the top half of the toasted cinnamon roll on top, like a sandwich, and serve.
Karsten suggests serving the cinnamon roll sandwich with a creamy, espresso-based beverage like a cappuccino, and opting for coffee with notes of dark chocolate that helps to bring out the rich flavours.
