Coffee Neighbourhoods: The South and East London Cafes You Need To Visit
Jessica Symes, Business Development Manager for Specialty and Independent Coffee at Alpro, on her favourite coffee spots in London.
At the London Coffee Festival Virtual on 16 April, we’ll be hitting the road with Alpro for exclusive insider tours of London's specialty coffee scene, café concepts, hot spots and hidden gems. With episodes dedicated to North, South, East, West and Central London, we’ll be covering every corner of the capital.

To get us in the mood, we’ve asked Jessica Symes, Business Development Manager for Specialty and Independent Coffee at Alpro, for her favourite coffee spots to visit on a lazy weekend!

The Common E2
East London

They have a wonderful and inviting community, create delicious in-house food and cakes and are vegan friendly as well as being aware on sustainability. I always feel like I’m visiting friends, as opposed to a coffee shop. They’re right by Colombia Road too, which makes them the perfect pit stop after the flower market.

Mughead Coffee
South East London

Famous for the cinnamon buns that they make in house (best eaten warm out the oven), their attention to detail with their coffee is always spot on and they’re always worth the visit if you’re in the area.

The Gentlemen Baristas
South East London, Borough

These guys are always smiling, they know their stuff when it comes to coffee and they have iconic locations in London which are great stops for any tourist or city worker. Their homemade vegan coffee and walnut cake is great paired with a coffee. Double coffee, double win!

Bare Brew
East London

Bare Brew always busy serving up delicious food, alongside their great coffee. Surrounded by a lovely area, you’ll enjoy the pit stop. I personally love their plant-based smoothies. They’re a little further out, but they’re worth the trip!

Fowlds Café

South East London

A great little spot just off Burgess Park, they serve incredible coffee from Climpson & Sons, alongside lovely sweet treats. I’ll always get a Soya Flat White and enjoy a stroll around the park with a vegan snack in hand.
